John P. Walker
Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board
Mr. Walker is an experienced leader in the biotechnology industry and has served as Novacea's Chairman since August of 2006. Mr. Walker also currently is Chairman of the Board of Directors for Renovis, Inc.and serves on the Board of Directors for Affymax, Inc. and Geron Corporation. During his 35-year career, Mr. Walker has served as Chairman, CEO, or Interim CEO of a number of biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, including KAI Pharmaceuticals and Guava Technologies. From 1993 to 2001, he was Chairman, CEO, and a Director of AXYS Pharmaceuticals Inc. and its predecessor company, Arris Pharmaceutical Corporation. Prior to Arris, Mr. Walker was Chairman and CEO of Vitaphore Corporation, a biomaterials company that was sold to Union Carbide Chemical and Plastics Company, Inc. Mr. Walker began his career with American Hospital Supply Corporation, where he held a variety of general management, sales, and operational positions. Mr. Walker also has served as President of American Medical Systems and The Hospital Company. |
Edward C. Albini
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Edward C. Albini has served as our Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since February 2004. From April 1997 to February 2004, Mr. Albini served as Chief Financial Officer at Lynx Therapeutics, Inc. (now Solexa Inc.), a biotechnology company. From January 1983 to April 1997, he served in various senior financial management positions at Genentech, including Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and Assistant Controller. He has also served as an auditor for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co., now KPMG, LLP. Mr. Albini holds a B.S. in accounting from Santa Clara University and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. He is a certified public accountant. |
Edward Schnipper, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Schnipper joined Novacea from CellGate Inc., a privately-held biotechnology company, with more than 18 years of management experience in the clinical development of medicines for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Dr. Schnipper has been responsible for numerous clinical trial programs that served to support successful New Drug Application strategies and competitive market positions for new therapeutic products. Prior to CellGate, Dr. Schnipper was vice president of Clinical Development at ALZA Corporation. Before joining ALZA, Dr. Schnipper served as senior vice president and medical director at SEQUUS Pharmaceuticals, where he was responsible for clinical and regulatory functions and a member of the Executive Committee. Between 1983 and 1996, he held various positions at Hoffmann-La Roche, culminating in his appointment as vice president of Clinical Operations, Virology.
Dr. Schnipper earned his B.A. degree from Hobart College in Geneva, New York and his M.D. from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He trained in medicine at the Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center and completed fellowships in hematology at New York University and in medical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians, among other professional societies. |
Amar Singh
Chief Commercialization Officer
Amar Singh has served as our Chief Commercialization Officer since February 2006. From August 2003 to January 2006, Mr. Singh served as Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Abraxis Oncology, a proprietary division of American Pharmaceutical Partners, Inc. Prior to joining American Pharmaceutical Partners, Mr. Singh served in multiple capacities at Roche Laboratories, a Division of Hoffmann La Roche, where he held positions in Market Research, Licensing and Business Development, New Product Planning, and Marketing. From 2000 to 2003, he was Executive Director for Oncology Marketing and subsequently for New Product planning for the Specialty Care business. Mr. Singh holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and an M.B.A. from New York University. |
