- Cancer causes 1 out of every 4 deaths in the U.S.
- About 560,000 Americans are expected to die of cancer in 2007 – that means more than 1,500 people a day
- Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S., exceeded only by heart disease
The global statistics are no less alarming: according to the World Health Organization, cancer causes 6 million deaths every year – or 12% of deaths worldwide.
In an effort to actively take part in the fight against cancer, Novacea is rapidly moving forward in developing and potentially commercializing novel anti-cancer compounds. Our initial therapies in development – Asentar™ and AQ4N – may prove to have significant potential in treating a variety of cancers. In addition, we continue to actively evaluate the licensing of clinical-stage oncology product candidates to expand our product pipeline.
